The Research Committee on International Tourism (RC 50) of the International Sociological Association will organise a series of sessions devoted to different fields of empirical and theoretical studies in travel and tourism at the XX World Congress in Melbourne (Australia), from 15 June to 1 July 2023.

Researchers from all countries and from all faculties are cordially invited to submit proposals to organise sessions or panels within the frame of the Research Committee.

The main theme of the World Congress is “Resurgent Authoritarianism: Sociology of new entanglements of religions, politics and economies”.

The RC50 sub-theme is: “Freedom, power and control: Contradictions and paradoxes in the new entanglements of International tourism”. Click on the 'meetings' page for more details and proposed panels.

For each session a chairperson is needed, so that we would appreciate if the proposals are accompanied by an intention to chair the respective session. Generally, the congress will carry on with the tradition of multi-, inter- and transdisciplinary works.

Deadline for session proposals is 2 May 2022. Please send your proposals together with a brief statement and preferably also a list of colleagues interested in the matter to Prof Scott McCabe
scott.mccabe@nottingham.ac.uk) and Prof Can-Seng Ooi (canseng.ooi@utas.edu.au).
